School Fundraising Gets a Makeover
EMBARGOED to 00:00 25 May 2013
School fundraising is about to get a whole lot healthier and easier with the launch of a new nationwide initiative. Designed for primary schools to encourage exercise and to raise much-needed school funds, the adidas School Fun Run is easy to implement and ensures that each school can hold an event that suits the capabilities of their students, from skip-a-thons to flat-out running races.
Students seek sponsorship from friends and family to support their school and can win prizes for their fundraising achievements, creating a positive experience for all involved.
Set to be officially launched at Kohia Terrace Primary School on Friday 24th May, the program kicks off with a special appearance by ambassador and All Black superstar, Richard Kahui.
“The adidas School Fun Runs offer fitness education, health messages and encourage students to get active. I hope that together with adidas and Kohia Terrace Primary School, we can inspire other Kiwi kids and schools to follow in their footsteps,” says Kahui.
Principal of Kohia Terrace Primary School, Alison Spence, adds, “Kohia Terrace School actively seeks opportunities to get our children involved in fun and rewarding exercise, which is why the Fun Run idea appeals much more as a fundraiser than alternatives like selling sweets or chocolate.”
Fundraising is an essential yet challenging task for many schools. It’s increasingly necessary to ensure that students have access to up-to-date resources. The adidas School Fun Runs will help schools raise funds for a variety of purposes, from upgrading IT systems, to the purchase of new sports gear.
Keeping administration to a minimum and requiring no expense for schools are added bonuses to the event. In addition the adidas School Fun Runs provide schools with a full time Fundraising Coach and all support materials needed for a great event, as well as prizes for student participation.
“Promoting healthy lifestyles in children and families is fundamental to our values here at adidas,” says Adam Daysh, Marketing Manager of adidas New Zealand. “We jumped at the chance to support School Fun Runs in New Zealand. We can’t wait to see Kiwi schools succeed.”
