Out of control parties lead to serious injuries
Two people are in hospital with fractured skulls following large scale disorder at a series or parties in Rotorua on Friday night (9 November).
Police were called to the disorder in Pretoria Street and King Street at approximately 11.20pm and established that there were a series of parties in the same Pretoria Street flat complex.
There is also some suggestion that at least one of the parties was advertised on Facebook as an open invite. It is estimated that the parties attracted between 100 and 150 people in their late to teens to early 20s.
Police know of at least six people injured as a result. All six were taken to hospital and two remain in Waikato Hospital with fractured skulls. Of the other four, one suffered a serious facial laceration requiring numerous stitches and another suffered a nasty head injury.
Police want to hear from anyone in the area who witnessed any assaults, or has information about who was armed with objects which they were using as weapons. Police also want to know about any other victims of assault as a result of this disorder.
Anyone with information relevant to this investigation is asked to contact Rotorua Police on 07 349 9400. Alternatively information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
