Celebrating a world of possibilities, disabilities, healthy aging and independent living
March 9-10 2012 signals the start of Auckland’s largest celebration of all things disability.
The focus of the Big Event Expo will be specifically on health, disability and senior living and, over the course of the two-day ‘Big Event Expo’ at Auckland’s ASB Showgrounds; we’ll honour those people in our community who live every day with a disability.
On display at the Big Event Expo will be organisations from around New Zealand (and the world) that supply products and/or services that enable or facilitate a better life for the aged and those with disabilities.
The Big Event will also celebrate the commitment made by the many thousands of disability support workers who commit themselves everyday to support those in need.
The Big Event Expo will also highlight disability issues to the wider community and aims to reinforce the following principles to all New Zealanders:
• People with disabilities and their families have the same human rights as everyone else
• People with disabilities should have choice and control over the support they need to go about their daily lives
• People with disabilities should be involved in and in control of decisions made about their lives
• People with disabilities need to be able to participate in all aspects of their communities
The Big Event will become a regular event on the expo calendar and a key event for the health, disability and aged care sectors.
