Healthcare of New Zealand Earthquake Response Update
Healthcare of New Zealand Limited Earthquake Response Update: 07 March 2011
• Healthcare is in the process of securing a new office space at the city end of Riccarton, which would allow the efficient relocation of most, if not all, of its Christchurch staff.
• Once the safety of Healthcare’s evacuated Lichfield St office has been assessed, a removal company will pack and transfer its remaining, non-essential contents, retrieving any items of personal value before this process begins.
Integrated Nursing and Community Services
• Healthcare is working closely with clients returning to Christchurch, to ensure that they receive the support they need in either their existing, or new home.
• Internet and network connection is being established in Healthcare’s temporary office in the Lion’s Den at Burnside Park today.
NZCare Disability Support Services
• NZCare’s Christchurch team is maintaining high-quality support across the city, with people working different hours in different houses, as needed.
• The people NZCare recently supported to relocate are continuing to settle into their temporary homes, with one client enjoying a special birthday celebration in the weekend.
Mental Health and Addiction Services (MH&AS)
• Members of the Christchurch team are taking turns staying in Taupo, to ensure that their only evacuee receives ongoing support from the people he knows well.
Healthcare of New Zealand Limited’s divisions, NZCare, HealthCare NZ Integrated Nursing and Community Services, and Mental Health & Addiction Services, support around 3,000 people in the Christchurch area. The company has more than 900 staff, nurses and support workers in the area.
