Dr Peter Didsbury Becomes New ProCare Health Chairman
AUCKLAND - 1 December 2008 – Dr Peter Didsbury has become the new chairman of the board of ProCare Health Limited (PHL)
– New Zealand’s largest primary health organisation.
A founding director and long-time Clinical Director of ProCare, Dr Didsbury replaces Dr Tom Marshall, who officially
resigned as chairman last week at ProCare Health’s annual meeting.
PHL shareholders unanimously voted at the annual meeting to confer the title of Founder Chairman to Dr Marshall, who had
been chairman of PHL since it was established in 1995.
Dr Jonathan Fox was elected unopposed to fill Dr Marshall’s seat on the board. Dr Fox is an Auckland general
practitioner and president of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.
Dr Harley Aish was re-appointed to the board.
Dr Didsbury, who had been the board’s deputy chair, practiced for 20 years at the Fellbrook Medical Centre, Manurewa,
and has recently moved his practice to Clendon Medical Centre. He is chairman of the ProCare subsidiary Clinical
Assessments Limited, a director of the Best Practice Advisory Centre (NZ) Inc., and past chair of the New Zealand
Guidelines Group.
Speaking to shareholders at the annual meeting, Dr Didsbury said: “I will continue to build on Tom’s commitment and
ProCare’s strong vigilance for general practice as the most effective and efficient way to deliver health care to our
population.”

in 180 medical practices, in looking after the primary health needs of over 650,000 Aucklanders from Whangaparaoa and
Helensville in the north to Waiuku in the south.
