Improving Health with Hypnosis
The annual conference of the New Zealand Hypnotherapy Federation (NZHF)
in October focussed on "Improving Health with Hypnosis". Local and
international speakers addressed nearly 65 delegates on topics ranging
from asthma to Parkinson's disease, drawing on the increasing body of
scientific research which supports the helpfulness of hypnosis for a
wide range of medical conditions.
Many people have their lives completely disrupted by the likes of
diabetes, cancer, asthma and Parkinson's disease, and delegates learned
new ways to help people with these problems and others using hypnosis.
For example, pain, distress and reactions from chemotherapy can all be
managed more effectively.
NZHF President Sandra Faye says “The recent national hypnotherapy
conference was most informative in the area of health. The knowledge and
calibre of the presenters, and the usefulness of their topics, will
ensure that more hypnotherapists will be able to assist people with* *a
wider range of health problems. Another very positive aspect of the
conference was the feeling of unity between members of the organisations
attending and the opportunity for the delegates to network."
The NZHF is the umbrella organization for the hypnotherapy profession in
New Zealand, and now has seven member organizations. These consist of
four professional bodies and three training schools, giving a broad
representation.
NZHF is committed to promoting the benefits of hypnotherapy, and
providing the profession with a unified voice which promotes standards,
ethics, professional conduct, and excellence in training and continuing
education.
