Invitation to
Phoenix Group’s Mental Health Awareness Week 2008
March and Debate
Phoenix is a group of over 15 mental health consumers based in the Wellington region. It was formed in 2006 initially to progress and support the development of local peer run services. This year Phoenix is holding two activities during Mental Health Awareness Week - 6-12 October 2008 that will highlight important aspects of mental health in NZ, a peaceful march to parliament and a lunchtime debate.
Mental Health Awareness Week is an opportunity to focus nationally on the mental health and well being of New Zealand and its people. We feel our activities are timely as 2008 is the 60th Anniversary of the UN Declaration of Human Rights and the government has recently passed the Disability Bill, allowing the way for New Zealand to ratify the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
