Generous donation supports HB cardiac research
The Hawke’s Bay Medical Research Foundation Inc. in association with the T.K. Brightwell Trust has recently donated two ambulatory ECG recording devices to the cardiac unit at Hawke’s Bay Hospital Soldiers’ Memorial.
The 24 hour ambulatory ECG recording devices are in essence a portable heart rhythm recorder which the patient wears for a 24 hour period, providing a continuous ECG record.
Dr Miles Williams, Consultant Cardiologist has stated they are presently involved in clinical trials where 24 hour ECG recordings are required and these monitors would certainly add to the capabilities in completing the requirement of the studies. Dr Williams said they are most grateful for the offer of funding and appreciate the donation.
