Dog bite victim update
** High Priority **
The 13-year-old boy bitten by dogs at Waitoa on Monday is in a fair condition in Waikato Hospital today.
His mother thanks the media for their understanding and messages of support. She is still traumatised by the attack on her son and is reluctant to do any media appearances.
The same applies to her son who is still groggy and receiving ongoing treatment.
Dr Fiona Neary, the plastics registrar who operated on the boy, saw him an hour ago and says she is pleased with his progress. He is likely to remain in Waikato Hospital another week at least.
"He is recovering well. He's a very brave young man," she said.
I attach a picture of Fiona Neary and here is a link to our website which includes downloadable pictures and an audio with Dr Neary.

Dr Neary is unavailable for the rest of the day - she is in theatre and on call.
