Bayer launches online thrush test for New Zealand women
Auckland, 5 May, 2008 New Zealand women are now able to take an online thrush test thanks to the launch of a new
Canesten® website by Bayer New Zealand’s Consumer Care division.
Bayer New Zealand Canesten brand manager Daniela Westphal says women will be able to visit a section of the website
www.canesten.co.nz and answer questions about their symptoms.
Based on their answers, the website will then work out the best solution and make a recommendation as to the best
Canesten treatment to use.
“What we wanted to do was make it easier for women to find out about thrush and to ask for thrush treatment,” says
Westphal.
“Our new online thrush test helps women find out which Canesten option is right for them. They can answer all the
awkward questions discretely online in the privacy of their own home.”
Westphal says the online test is based on a “recommendation grid” that was compiled after Bayer consulted with
pharmacists throughout New Zealand.
“Once a woman has taken the test, the website provides a summary and recommends a treatment based on what answers were
given. It also explains why the treatment is recommended.
“The test results and recommended solution can then be printed out for the woman to take to her local pharmacist where
she can discuss further the recommended treatment.”
While the Canesten website primarily provides consumers with information on thrush, it also contains a section of other
types of fungal infections, such as athlete’s foot, jock itch and ringworm.
