CDHB decides to rejoin DHBNZ
Canterbury District Health Board members voted to rejoin DHBNZ at their monthly meeting today. The previous Board withdrew last year.
CDHB chair Alister James said he believed DHBNZ was an important organisation, through which DHBs could stay in touch and act collaboratively in a range of areas including industrial relations, workforce development and procurement.
Recently elected DHBNZ chair Dennis Cairns was at the Board meeting and spoke to members about concerns that had previously been raised, principally around DHBNZ’s level of autonomy and its internal voting structure.
He said many of the issues that had concerned CDHB had been addressed and that given that DHBNZ was a representative body of all DHBs, it should be able to work through significant concerns from any of its members.
