3 April 2008: Hospice Wanganui and Harcourts Wakelin Real Estate today announced they have commenced a new three-year partnership aimed at benefiting the community organisation and its valuable palliative care services.
Under the new partnership Kevin and Grant Wakelin, who own eight Harcourts offices in the Central North Island, and the Harcourts Wanganui team will donate a substantial amount of money to help support the Hospice’s operational costs for the next three years and to subsidise the cost of two of the charity’s major annual events – the Hospice Wanganui Ball and the annual Race Day and Casino Evening. In addition Harcourts Wanganui staff will support hospice events and activities, including through providing expert assistance with fundraising and promotional activities.
Hospice Wanganui Chief Executive Officer Karen Anderson says the charity was pleased and proud to announce the new relationship with Harcourts Wakelin Real Estate, which has Harcourts offices in Rotorua, Taupo, Turangi, Dannevirke, Palmerston North, Feilding, Foxton and Wanganui.
“Harcourts are very aware of our need to achieve sustainable income and in response they have developed a great strategy to support us with that, including generous financial support and ongoing hands-on assistance. This is a unique and significant new partnership which we are absolutely delighted with,” she says.
Ms Anderson says that in addition to benefiting from a significant donation, Hospice Wanganui is thrilled to know it has the support of Harcourts Wanganui staff who will fulfil volunteer roles and use their sales and marketing experience to provide additional benefits to the hospice.
Harcourts Wakelin Real Estate Director Grant Wakelin says the company is pleased to have formally partnered with Hospice Wanganui.
“It is wonderful to be working with such a quality organisation in a manner that has such a groundswell of support within our company, particularly from the Harcourts Wanganui team who came up with the idea.”
