Correction to Sunday Star Times story re Canterbury RMOs
A report in the Sunday Star Times last Sunday incorrectly stated that the Canterbury District Health Board had cancelled annual leave for its junior doctors until August.
“While we have asked RMOs ( Resident Medical Officers) to limit leave taken over the next few months, we have not said that leave cannot be taken,” Mark Leggett CDHB’s General Manager Medical and Surgical Services Division said. The amount of annual leave given to Canterbury’s RMOs during autumn/winter is being constrained by the availability of relief, locum and agency cover.
“We are working hard to prepare for winter as we do each year. This includes consideration of winter staffing levels,” Mr Leggett said. CDHB’s RMOs have been invited to discuss any concerns about their annual leave and to assist in managing the winter workload.
