MEDIA ADVISORY: Spotless hospital workers strike - Wednesday 2nd April
Around 400 members of the Service and Food Workers Union Nga Ringa Tota (SFWU) from Auckland will hold strike action tomorrow outside Waitakere, North Shore and Middlemore Hospitals before joining together for a mass demonstration outside Spotless Services Head Office at 600 Great South Road, Greenlane.
The Auckland workers join over 800 Spotless workers taking strike action over Spotless' refusal to pay them a pay increase, agreed to nine months ago. All other contractors in the sector, and the DHB's themselves, are now paying a base rate of $14.25p/h.
- Pickets will be held outside Waitakere, North Shore and Middlemore Hospitals from 6am.
- A combined action at Spotless Services Head Office will be held from 11am until 1pm.
Union members involved in the strike action will be available for comment.
