Steve Price Announced As First Official Ambassador For The Child Cancer Foundation
The Child Cancer Foundation is delighted to welcome on-board rugby league legend Steve Price as their first official
ambassador. The distinguished Vodafone Warriors captain will be joining forces with the Foundation to help raise
awareness about childhood cancer, as well as playing an integral part in all fundraising activity.
Olivia Blaylock, Child Cancer Foundation Marketing Manager says, “We are thrilled to have Steve Price supporting us.
Steve’s high profile, coupled with his passion for our cause makes for a fantastic relationship. We couldn’t be happier
to have him involved and are very much looking forward to working together with him, in what I am sure will be a year of
considerable growth for the Foundation.”
As a dedicated family man, Steve is a proud father of three children, Jamie-Lee aged 12, Kasey aged 9 and Riley aged 6.
Of his appointment, Steve says, “I am thrilled to be the ambassador of Child Cancer Foundation. As a dad I can only
imagine the impact that the word cancer would have upon your life. I have seen first-hand the commendable work that the
Foundation carries out and I am passionate about helping them raise awareness, as well as much-needed funds, so that
they can continue with their admirable work.”
Steve will be involved in all fundraising aspects of Child Cancer Foundation. He has already visited Starship Hospital
and met with several kids currently undergoing treatment. “All of the kids I met touched me with their courage; Despite
their invasive treatments, they always manage to smile; in my eyes they are all heroes,” Steve says of his visit. Steve
has also spent time with families at the Auckland Family Place. This is where families can come for some respite, away
from the hospital routine and relax over a cup of coffee, watch a DVD or simply sit and chat with CCF staff.
The first fundraising initiative that Steve is supporting is the Foundation’s Appeal Week, which takes place nationwide
from 10-16 March. There will be more than 1,000 volunteers out and about on the streets collecting invaluable funds to
support kids with cancer and their families. Steve says, “I am asking Kiwis to help get behind the Foundation. No matter
how much money you can spare, it will make a big difference to the kids, so dig deep and together we can help brave kids
across the country keep smiling throughout their cancer ordeal.”
The Foundation is dedicated to helping support Kiwi children and their families from the time of diagnosis and
throughout their childhood cancer journey. A host of fundraising and awareness-raising initiatives are scheduled for the
forthcoming year, and the Foundation looks forward to working with Steve Price and continuing to make a difference in
the lives of children and families affected by childhood cancer.
