New Zealand Men’s Health Trust Launches at Charity Golf Day
Auckland, 6 March 2008 – The New Zealand Men’s Health Trust a newly formed non-profitable charitable trust today announced the inaugural launch of the national organisation at a charity golf day at the Pakuranga Country Club.
The NZ Men’s Health Trust was formed to promote greater awareness of men’s health issues and predominantly address male health issues such as urological illnesses (bladder cancer), impotence, and kidney stones.
Colleen Thurston, Chairperson of the NZ Men’s Health Trust says that men are not the best at seeking medical assistance and so a key role for the trust was to raise awareness around how to find help and also to make males more aware of what they can do to stop many illnesses before they become life threatening.
“It’s OK for men to talk about health concerns, and it’s OK for men to seek medical advice and to acknowledge that they have specific male health issues that we all have to be concerned about. The NZ Men’s Health Trust will promote awareness that it is OK for men and those that care for them to be more positive and open about their health,” says Thurston.
“We want the trust to be a major catalyst in changing how Kiwi men view their health and to make our blokes more aware that they can get effective help early on to address specific health issues they may be ignoring or hoping will go away.”
Thurston says the Trust will establish a series of fun events to raise funds which will be used to promote several key areas of Men’s Health including printing posters that will contain essential health information for men in workplaces across New Zealand through to assisting New Zealand medical researchers in key areas of men’s health.
Parker Hannifin (NZ) Ltd is the naming sponsors of the NZ Men’s Health Trust Charity Golf event at Pakuranga which has guests enjoying a round on the greens followed by dinner and prize giving.
The Parker Hannifin NZ Mens Health Trust charity golf day at the Pakuranga Golf Club will start at 11.30am with a shotgun start at 12.30pm. Refreshments and dinner as well as prize giving will take place at 6.00pm.
