Family Planning opens shopping mall clinic
Family Planning is opening a clinic in a Wellington shopping mall – just the second time the organisation has located its sexual health services within a shopping complex.
The organisation’s Porirua clinic will open in the North City Shopping Centre from Thursday February 7 as part of an organisational strategy to make its clinics as accessible as possible whilst ensuring client privacy.
Family Planning Chief Executive Jackie Edmond says the organisation opened a clinic in the Manukau Shopping Centre in Auckland in January 2000 which has been a significant success.
“Client numbers through the Manukau clinic have increased and clients tell us they appreciate the discretion and accessibility of the clinic. We’re confident that our new Porirua location will provide local people with the same level of service,” Ms Edmond says.
The Porirua clinic provides a range of services including contraception, testing and treatment of sexually transmissible infections, pregnancy testing and cervical screening.
Family Planning Clinics are not just for the girls – services, including STI testing and treatment and contraception are available for men. Pre-vasectomy appointments are also available at the Porirua clinic.
For people under 22, a visit to a Family Planning Clinic is free and for those with a Community Services Card a visit costs just $5. For everyone else a visit costs $22.50.
The Clinic is located in Suite 411, Level 4, North City Shopping Centre. Phone 237 8895 to make an appointment. For more information on Family Planning services check out the website www.familyplanning.org.nz
