Glassons stores are swinging open their doors today revealing the much anticipated 2008 Breast Cancer Research Trust T-shirt collection.
Customers clamouring for this year’s high-fashion 2008 range can choose from eight stunning designs. Six are by returning designers Karen Walker, Kate Sylvester, Trelise Cooper, Zambesi, Ruby, and Cybele, with a further two designs from campaign newcomers, Chris Cherry from Workshop and Jun Arita (Air New Zealand Fashion Week competition winner and the first member of the New Zealand public to be involved in the campaign).
Ever fashionable and always relevant, the 2008 Glassons Breast Cancer Research Trust T-shirt campaign has a new, upbeat theme: “Shake it for Good”. The number of New Zealand women getting breast cancer and the number dying from the disease is on the increase and so Glassons and The Breast Cancer Research Trust are again joining forces in the fight to shake off this disease once and for all.

A heart shaped clover, a mythological phoenix bird, an exploding heart, a shaking dog, and a star for hope... make up some of this year’s exquisite designs. Available in both t-shirts and racer back singlets, each design reflects the 2008 campaign theme ‘Shake it for Good’.

Fashion aficionados can purchase this year’s t-shirts for just $29.99 with $10 from each sale going to The Breast Cancer Research Trust.
Glassons Managing Director, Jamie Whiting, is expecting a great response from this year’s cutting edge t-shirt designs, which he says are always a hit with customers, most of whom collect their favourite design each year.
“The t-shirts have become collectors’ items - every year the designs change but their massive appeal remains constant. Women of all ages, shapes and sizes rush to support The Breast Cancer Research Trust by buying their favourite designer’s t-shirt and while they are at it, buy some to send to relatives abroad or for presents.”
Of course, the campaign is also a unique way for the public to get their hands on a designer t-shirt at a Glassons’ price, and to simultaneously contribute to this worthy cause. And if there isn’t a Glassons store in their area, they can go to www.glassons.co.nz to order their favourite designer t-shirt.”
This is the sixth year that Glassons has supported The Breast Cancer Research Trust, to date raising over $2.8 million for the Trust. Money from the 2008 campaign will go towards funding the recent appointment of New Zealand’s first Professor of Breast Cancer Research at the University of Auckland. The appointment is being funded for three years by the Trust and will help build understanding of the disease in New Zealand and how to treat it.
New Zealand has one of the world’s highest rates of incidence and death from breast cancer in the world and both rates are on the increase. Breast cancer affects one in eight New Zealand women, claiming more than 600 lives every year.
