It’s Mission-On For Students From HB Schools This Weds
Hawke’s Bay District Health Board has organised a peer leadership workshop for students from 36 Hawke’s Bay Schools from Hastings, Napier and Central Hawke’s Bay. The aim of the day is to promote the Ministry of Health’s Mission-On initiative by sharing information on healthy lifestyle choices with young people who will then go back to their school and become ambassadors for a healthy lifestyle.
Students will be presenting information about their own school’s journey to becoming a Health Promoting School, or their involvement in the Fruit in Schools programme. There will also be workshops on leadership and teamwork.
A highlight of the day will be performances and mentoring by members of the Pacific Island Band, Spacifix. Spacifix have a high profile with young New Zealanders, and demonstrate goal setting and commitment and the benefits of making healthy lifestyle choices. They are one of a number of groups or individuals chosen with input from by young people as ‘cool’ and relevant role models.
