The Wellington based Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to Furneaux Lodge in the Marlborough Sounds around 1230 this
morning.
The helicopter was called to the lodge, in Endeavour Inlet, where a 19 year old woman was suffering from a neck injury
after a fall.
"Apparently the woman slipped while dancing and fell to the floor quite hard" says Westpac Rescue Helicopter Crewman
Dave Greenberg. "She had a lot of pain in her neck and found it hard to move so the Furneaux Lodge staff did a great job
by not moving her, making her as comfortable as possible and keeping her warm".
The helicopter, with a Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic on board, arrived at Furneaux around 1:15am and transported
the woman back to Wellington Hospital after she was stabilised by the paramedic.
She is currently in the Wellington Hospital Emergency Department being treated and assessed.
