Barnardos launches toddler sunscreen
Barnardos New Zealand has launched its ‘Toddler’ range of sunscreen in partnership with the Cancer Society, to coincide with the start of summer.
"This is a great initiative for Barnardos,” says Murray Edridge, Chief Executive of Barnardos New Zealand. “We’ve been working with our Cancer Society colleagues to help protect children from the sun on one hand and to help them thrive on the other, as funds raised through sales will go towards our child and family services.”
“Barnardos staff, early childhood teachers and KidStart Caregivers are careful to ensure the children they work with are always protected from the burning rays of the sun. Hats, shade and sunscreen are all part of their sun safety regime. The arrival of a quality sunscreen especially designed for young children’s sensitive skin will make this much easier.”
The SPF30+ formula is water resistant, and has broad spectrum UBA and UVB protection. It is fragrance free and is designed for young children’s delicate skin. Barnardos Toddler Sunscreen is available in a 200ml bottle and a handy 65ml roll-on tube, and can be purchased from supermarkets, The Warehouse, Kmart, and Farmers. A small percentage of the sale price will go towards Barnardos child and family services.
Parents who want to learn more about the best ways to protect their children from the risk of skin damage in the sun will find useful information on the Cancer Society’s website: www.cancernz.org.nz or on www.sunsmart.org.nz.
