Current lab services to continue in Bay
Bay of Plenty District Health Board has made a decision on the future provision of laboratory services, and is pleased to announce that the current laboratory services provider, Pathology Associates Limited, will continue to provide services in the Bay of Plenty.
As a result of a recent tendering process, the health board has appointed Pathology Associates Limited as the preferred service provider for the next eight years.
The new contract begins on 1 February 2007. The contract covers the provision of community laboratory services across the Bay of Plenty as well as hospital laboratory services in Tauranga. Laboratory services for Whakatane Hospital will continue to be provided in-house by health board staff.
Bay of Plenty District Health Board Planning and Funding Manager Helen Mason says that a number of very good responses to the request for proposals were received from providers interested in securing the contract.
“One of the key outcomes achieved as is that the population of the Bay of Plenty will continue to have access to high quality laboratory services,” says Mrs Mason.
