Labtests Auckland - progress report
Labtests Auckland's implementation plan is well-advanced and the company is on track to provide community laboratory services to the Auckland region next year.
Labtests Auckland chief executive, Dr Tony Bierre revealed that there has been a substantial and encouraging response to advertisements for pathologists and laboratory professionals.
Labtests has received enquiries from the laboratory professionals in Auckland and from across New Zealand and overseas, Dr Bierre said.
We are in discussions with a number of potential senior staff about them joining the Labtests team, including personnel currently providing laboratory services in Auckland under the current provider.
In other developments, Labtests has:
Appointed architects and is progressing plans for the fit-out of the proposed laboratory;
Had advanced discussions with major equipment suppliers for the required equipment and associated information systems facilities; and
Finalised plans to issue an RFP for the supply of major laboratory analysers . a contract worth several million dollars.
Labtests is moving full steam ahead with plans to establish a new state-of-the-art laboratory and to set up a network of convenient collection centres.
We are committed to not only maintaining laboratory services, but enhancing them through the introduction of efficiencies, streamlined processes and a more convenient collection system,. Dr Bierre said.
