Press Release
NMDHB Laboratory Services
At a Special Meeting on July 11 the Board of NMDHB resolved to defer its decision on the future of laboratory services.
This reflects an agreement reached between the NMDHB and Association of Salaried Medical Specialists that the DHB will defer any decision on the future of laboratory services in order to take the time necessary to address the professional and clinical concerns raised by senior doctors.
The decision will be deferred until after August 31 and will be done through an agreed process, which is to be consistent with the consultation obligations and responsibilities under the national collective agreement covering senior doctors employed by DHBs.
The Board's resolution to defer needs to be formally ratified at the public Board meeting on July 18 2006.
The public meetings scheduled to take place in Nelson at 7pm at the Braemar gym on July 13 and before the public meeting 9.30 to 10.30am in Blenheim on July 18 will proceed as planned.
