Gisborne’s Largest GP Practice Welcomes New Local Doctor
Kaiti Medical Centre (KMC) is set to expand when it welcomes long-time Gisborne General Practitioner Dr Allen Marx to its team.
Dr Marx is moving his practice from Treble Court on Saturday 8 July, extending the number of KMC GPs to seven.
Dr Marx said he was delighted to be joining the KMC team and reminded his patients that they would still be able to make routine appointments with him as usual.
“We have sent all our patients a letter advising them of the change and the advantages of being part of Kaiti Medical Centre.”
KMC General Practitioner Dr Johan Peters said the Centre has two treatment rooms and14 consultation rooms. It currently employs six GPs, eight practice nurses and six receptionists.
“The advantages for Dr Marx’patients are our longer opening hours. It will also be easier for patients to see a doctor on the same day if they or their family are urgently sick, as KMC has a doctor available for urgent appointments.”
Dr Marx surgery has been in Treble Court for the past 18 years and before that was located in Gladstone Road.
Dr Marx will start work at KMC on Monday 10 July.
Both GP practices are part of Turanganui Primary Health Organisation which is an umbrella body for six GP practices in Gisborne, and Maori health service Turanga Health.
