Life Flight Chairman Re-Appointed
Bill Day was re-appointed Chairman of The Life Flight Trust last week. Mr Day has been closely involved with the Trust
since meeting its founder, the late Peter Button, soon after the service was established in 1976.
"Bill has lead the Trust through major initiatives in recent years including building its dedicated air rescue centre in
Wellington, purchasing its own helicopter and establishing an Auckland-based air ambulance service to support Starship
Children's Health." said Kevin Allan, the Trust's General Manager.
Catherine Taylor was re-elected Deputy Chair. Mrs Taylor is a Deputy Director at Maritime New Zealand and has a long
association with the aviation sector. Deborah Battell, Director of the Fair Trading Branch at the New Zealand Commerce
Commission, and Stephen Ward, partner with the law firm, Simpson Grierson, have been re-appointed as Trustees.
"The Trust is fortunate in having such a strong, experienced board to guide its development." Mr Allan said. "Their
vision and leadership helps to ensure that we are able to provide a world class air ambulance and air rescue service for
people who need our services."
Life Flight is the operator of the Wellington-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter and the Life Flight NZ fixed wing air
ambulance service.
2006 marks the 30th anniversary of the rescue helicopter service started in Wellington by the late Peter Button. Since
then the service has helped over 14,000 people.
