The Business of Breeding is the theme at this year's Mystery Creek Fieldays, 14-17 June, and the New Zealand Food Safety
Authority will be there to offer help and advice on how you can prevent your food from becoming a breeding ground for
bugs.
NZFSA's technical experts will also be on hand to answer queries from consumers, farmers, industry and agricultural
representatives about food exports and imports, access to your markets, and all your other food safety concerns.
Our stand (PD60 in the Grand Pavilion) is a goldmine of information in the form of brochures, leaflets, handouts and
fact sheets on subjects of interest to consumers of all ages, as well as farmers and food industry experts.
NZFSA's key roles of facilitating market access for the food produced by our agricultural and farming industries and
protecting consumers at home and overseas from food safety risks mean we take our attendance at Fieldays seriously.
This year, mindful of the need to ensure consumers are armed with as much information as possible in the fight against
foodborne pathogens, and to fit in with the show's theme The Business of Breeding, NZFSA will be promoting its latest
booklet, Meet the Bugs.
It highlights the most common pathogens that cause foodborne illness in New Zealand and gives advice on how you can
avoid them and explains in simple terms how to keep yourself – and your food – safe.
Knowing what to watch out for and how to ensure you don't contaminate food that you, your family or others are going to
eat is an important part of knowing how to avoid foodborne illness.
The booklet will be available at our Fieldays stand, along with other food safety information for industry and
consumers.
