Buy A Day with PINETREE
Colin “Pinetree” Meads is putting himself under the auctioneers hammer for IHC, at the Mystery Creek Field Days this
year.
All proceeds raised from the sale of Colin in the PGG Wrightson marquee will go directly to IHC NZ Inc.
“You don’t get many opportunities like this, to buy a day with one of New Zealand’s only living legends, and we’re
expecting bidding to be hotly contested,” says IHC National Fundraising Manager Greg Millar.
Last year the winning bid for Colin of $6,500, was made by Balance Agri-Nutrients. At the time, PGG Wrightson Waikato
auctioneer Lynn Collins, made a variety of suggestions about what the winning bidder may do with Colin Meads for a day -
some of the suggestions included ironing, washing, cheering for an Auckland rugby team, having a few drinks at the local
bar, or helping with the fencing. Colin went along with the fun, but admitted to being a little uncomfortable about some
of the suggestions.
Colin (70) has been a staunch supporter of IHC since he hung up his rugby boots 30 years ago. He is a former King
Country branch president and former chairman of IHC’s national fundraising committee. He is currently Patron of the PGG
Wrightson IHC Calf Scheme.
Colin says he gets tremendous satisfaction from his involvement with IHC.
“I’ve had everything good in my life and there comes a time to give something to others,” he says.
IHC Calf Scheme canvassers are currently visiting dairy farmers in the North Island and are due to start canvassing in
the South Island later June.
Colin will be auctioned off at 1.00 pm on Friday, 16 June at the Mystery Creek field days, in the PGG Wrightson marquee
(corner of Road J & D Street). If a business or individual would like to submit an absentee bid they can do so by phoning 0800 746 444.
