Work begins to replace carpet tiles with vinyl at Hawke’s Bay Hospital
Work to replace Hawke’s Bay Hospital’s ground floor corridor carpet tiles with vinyl is due to start on Monday 8th May.
Most of the four week programme of work will be undertaken at night to minimise disruption for patients and visitors.
Says Mike Lunnon, project manager “While there will be some noise due to the preparation of the floor surface and some
smell associated with the vinyl adhesives, we have taken every practicable step to ensure as little inconvenience as
possible will be felt by patients, staff and visitors.”
Around 1400 square metres, the equivalent of three netball courts or five tennis courts, of new vinyl will be laid in
stages over the coming weeks.
The work begins at the southern end of the main ground floor corridor by the entrances to Villa Two and the courtyard
café. During the day corridors will be available for use as normal however care will be needed due to irregular surfaces
under preparation for vinyl laying. All areas requiring people to take extra care will be sign posted
