Radio Lollipop Paints the Town Red!
In the first two weeks of May, Radio Lollipop is holding its annual ‘Paint the Town Red’ appeal to raise funds to keep the children’s charity up and running.
Paint the Town Red week is aimed at raising awareness about what Radio Lollipop is and what its volunteers do.
During the week, schools hold mufti days, people in businesses wear red and volunteers are out an about street collecting. Radio Lollipop has support from a number of local celebrities who are doing their part in helping to Paint the Town Red.
Based on play and fun, Radio Lollipop is an international children’s charity run by trained volunteers especially for young people in hospitals. It is self-funding and in New Zealand operates in Auckland at the Starship Children’s hospital, Manukau Super Clinic and Kidz First hospital. Each Branch has their own in-house programme.
Internationally, Radio Lollipop successfully works in hospitals in the UK, Australia, North America and New Zealand.
Radio Lollipop has been operating in New Zealand for more than fifteen years and has plans to expand throughout the country. The New Zealand Chairman, Mr Barrie Cooper, says “bringing cheer and laughter to children at a time when they need it most, is the most satisfying activity Radio Lollipop does”.
To show your support for Radio Lollipop you can buy a charity bracelet for $3.00 from any Auckland Whitcoulls store with all proceeds going to Radio Lollipop.
We look forward to a great week and lots of fun Painting the Town Red!
