More staff and union consultation called for on Ambulance changes
A union representing ambulance officers in the North Island is calling for more information and more consultation on
restructuring plans announced by St Johns today.
NDU National Secretary, Laila Harré, says that despite requests for staff and unions to be involved in the development
of any proposals, plans announced today “have had no frontline input and the month-long consultation period is woefully
inadequate.”
The changes will see some services contracted out, others merged and administration centralised while senior management
remains regionalised.
“With ambulance crews working at their limits and full crewing of ambulances desperately needed the question needs to be
asked why resources will continue to spent on regional management structures that might be better applied to getting
more frontline staff?”
