Health Board CEO prepares for challenge
Bay of Plenty District Health Board's newly appointed Chief Executive, Phil Cammish, had an early visit to the
organisation last week to prepare for the challenge when he commences his new role on 16 January 2005.
Mr Cammish took a few days out on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday last week from his current role as district manager of
the Cairns health service district, Queensland Health, to participate in several important events at the Bay of Plenty
District Health Board.
The first was a planning day on Wednesday, which involved members of the Board and the Executive Management team
brainstorming and discussing issues and priorities for the coming year in order to feed into the District Annual
Planning process for the organisation.
Bay of Plenty District Health Board Chairperson, Mary Hackett, said the decision was made to invite Mr Cammish to the
planning day to give him an insight into issues and priorities for the health board, as well as provide him with the
opportunity to work with the Board and the Executive Management team in the construction of the plan that he will play a
significant role in delivering.
Following on from Wednesday's planning day, Mr Cammish attended his first Bay of Plenty District Health Board meeting on
Thursday in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
Mr Cammish's trip ended on Friday with a visit to the Tauranga Hospital campus, which included the official opening of
the new front entrance of Tauranga Hospital, a brief tour of the hospital, and visits to community and MeNZB
immunisation services.
