HBDHB seeking innovative ideas to help improve health of families
Hawke’s Bay District Health Board chief executive, Chris Clarke, said the DHB was seeking requests for proposals from
organisations in Hawke’s Bay, who believe they have innovative ideas for programmes to help improve the health of
Hawke’s Bay families.
“We have $320,000 earmarked for ‘Healthy Families’ initiatives,” Mr Clarke said. “We would welcome proposals from any
organisation including those not traditionally involved in health – for example, housing – there are already initiatives
underway to improve insulation, as we know a warm dry home has a positive effect on health. I’m sure there are other
ideas out there.
“There could be something from the sports sector, as increasing physical activity and maintaining a healthy weight are
important for good health. Likewise, a healthy diet contributes to a healthy body…so if there are organisations out
there, who think they can work alongside the DHB to improve the health of Hawke’s Bay people, we want to hear from you,”
Chris Clarke said.
“Of course, people who already provide health services in our community are also most welcome to put forward their
proposals,” he said. “We know we have to do some things differently If we are to improve the health of our community,
and this funding for pilot programmes is just a starting point towards our goal of having the healthiest families in New
Zealand.
