Event Showcases Health Innovations
A range of innovations designed to improve people’s health will be showcased during an event held at Waitakere Trusts Stadium this Thursday.
The event has been co-ordinated by Waitemata District Health Board and highlights initiatives being implemented across the local area and beyond.
Waitemata DHB’s Innovative Integration Manager Mary-Anne Boyd says the featured projects were also winners at the New Zealand Health Innovation Awards 2005 held in Wellington in July.
“Having these innovations in one place offers health workers the chance to come together locally and share information that will ultimately benefit patients and communities,” she says.
Ms Boyd says the free event is not restricted to people working in health, with members of the community welcome to attend – especially those involved in community organisations and agencies.
Among the projects on display will be The Healthy Housing Programme, safe medicines initiatives and a new system that has slashed waiting times for people with potentially life-threatening skin cancers.
Also featured will be two New Zealand websites that provide information about healthcare services for doctors, patients and caregivers – www.healthpoint.co.nz and www.webhealth.co.nz.
The event is being held from 5.00pm – 7.30pm and attendees will hear from guest speaker Rod Oram – Adjunct Professor in the New Zealand Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Unitec NZ.
