Stand up and ‘be noticed’ for Blind Week!
‘Be noticed’ by volunteering a few hours of your time during
the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind’s (RNZFB) annual Blind
Week appeal, 25-31 October.
The RNZFB needs 13,000 volunteers to help people ‘Notice Us’
and raise the $1.1 million needed to continue providing essential services
to blind, deafblind and vision-impaired New Zealanders.
“Volunteers are the key to a successful Blind Week,” says
Dianne Armstrong, RNZFB Group Manager, Regional Fundraising.
“By spending just a few hours collecting on the streets, in local
malls, supermarkets and shopping centres, volunteers will be helping us to
continue to support blind, deafblind and vision-impaired people in their
community.”
With the popular orange arrow hats and fluorescent vests returning and a
new advertising campaign, the RNZFB’s volunteer collectors are sure
to be noticed.
And they need to be because this year the RNZFB needs to raise over $15
million from public donations, bequests and corporate sponsorship.
The minimum number of volunteers needed for each area are:
Auckland / Northland 2,000; Waikato / King Country 1,500; Bay of Plenty
1,000;
Hawkes Bay Region 400; Wellington Region 2,450; Marlborough/ Nelson 350;
Canterbury / Westcoast 2,500; and Otago/Southland 3,000.
To donate a few hours of your time during Blind Week please call 0800 002
345 to speak to your nearest regional fundraising manager or visit
www.rnzfb.org.nz.
The RNZFB is New Zealand’s primary service provider for blind,
deafblind, and vision-impaired people. Every year nearly 1200 New
Zealanders become members of the RNZFB.
