Prime Television Raises $17,000 For EB
Young New Zealanders suffering from the rare genetic skin disorder Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) will benefit from $17,000
donated by viewers, Prime Television and ANZ.
The appeal was launched on Tuesday night with the screening of Emmy Award winning Prime Documentary, "The Boy Whose Skin
Fell Off", following a special edition of Paul Holmes focusing on young New Zealanders who have the painful and
debilitating skin disorder, known as EB.
Anna Kemble Welch, director of DEBRA NZ, said the generosity of Prime Television, its viewers and ANZ was wonderful.
"With developments in the care of EB, our children are now living longer and like all teenagers, they want to experience
outdoor activities that most of us take for granted.
"The money raised will go towards camps where they can meet others with EB and take part in activities like abseiling,
canoeing, swimming.
It will also help fund a dedicated specialist EB nurse for families who have children with EB and assist with research,"
says Anna Kemble Welch.
