ODHB financial status upgrade demonstrates Health Ministry confidence
The Ministry of Health has signaled its confidence in the ODHB’s financial and operational performance by upgrading its status from Intensive Monitoring to Performance Watch.
The change of status on the monitoring and intervention framework was announced in a letter to the board this week from Anthony Hill, Group Manager, for DHB Funding and Performance, Ministry of Health.
Mr Hill wrote that in coming to the decision to upgrade the ODHB financial status, consideration was given to the DHB’s 2004/05 District Annual Plan which contains a plan to achieve break-even.
“We appreciate the energy and commitment the DHB has shown to improve its financial performance,” Mr Hill wrote.
ODHB Chairman Richard Thomson told the board this week that it was important to acknowledge the incredible effort of management and staff in achieving the financial performance.
“This is a clear statement of confidence from the Minister about where the board is going and how it is being managed.
“I’m confident we will see further improvements,” said Mr Thomson.
