Blessing The New Hospital
Blessing The New Hospital
Tomorrow morning (Friday) at 7 o’clock, the new Christchurch Women’s Hospital (which includes the new Day Surgery Unit) will receive its official blessing by a team of hospital chaplains and associate Church Ministers, led by the Rev Maurice Gray.
The blessing will cover the entire building and it is estimated this will take about two hours.
‘It will be a very special occasion not only for its spiritual significance but because it highlights the start of a series of events leading up to the hospital’s official opening,’ said the CDHB’s General Manager of Women’s & Children’s Health Pauline Burt.
‘Over the next month we will be very busy transferring everything from the current site to the new hospital in Riccarton Avenue. It is an enormous exercise and we wanted to make sure we had the building properly and appropriately blessed before starting this big task.’
Ms Burt said a
large team of people would be helping with the blessing – it
was starting at 7am to ensure every room was covered before
too many contractors were on site in the morning.
