CDHB Response To HDC Comment
15 December 2004
The Canterbury District Health Board’s Chief Executive Jean O’Callaghan says she is very pleased the Health & Disability Commissioner is taking no further action on a complaint lodged by the family of the Nelson baby who died earlier this year.
‘It has been a very difficult time for everyone and I agree with Commissioner Ron Paterson’s comments that goodwill from the family and hospital staff have enabled this outcome.’
‘We have some internal processes to review including the management of patient complaints and this work is currently underway.’
Mrs O’Callaghan said she appreciated the commitment and positive approach from everyone involved to look at ‘how we can do things better.’
