Second mediation meeting: CCS and DPA complaint against Air New Zealand
A second meeting was held by the Human Rights Commission yesterday to mediate complaints made by DPA and CCS against Air New Zealand concerning the company's lifting policy and its impact on a number of mobility-impaired people.
At the meeting Air New Zealand presented a plan of action for addressing issues resulting from the company's lifting policy.
This plan included the trialling and, if successful, the introduction of new lifting equipment as well as staff training to ensure the consistent application of the existing policy. The plan will be implemented over a six month timeframe.
DPA and CCS recognised the plan as a forward step by Air New Zealand. Both organisations provided additional feedback on Air New Zealand's plan of action. CCS and DPA will now discuss the plan with their respective boards.
Air New Zealand will conduct a review of the current lifting policy in June.
Meanwhile the three parties agreed to continue informal discussions with each other outside of the mediation forum.
Air New Zealand, CCS and DPA agreed that the meeting continued the progress made at the first meeting.
