Statement From Canterbury District Health Board
This statement is from the Chief Executive of the Canterbury District Health Board, Jean O’Callaghan in response to media requests about this week’s court case relating to the Nelson baby who died and the baby’s family.
‘This tragic event has touched the hearts of many people and all DHB staff who were involved with the family express their deep sympathy.
There has been media criticism relating to some aspects of the treatment the family received at Christchurch hospital and I understand that a complaint has been made to the Health & Disability Commissioner. We will be cooperating fully with the Commissioner to resolve any concerns as soon as possible.
