Little Support for Industrial Action
Richmond Fellowship, the non-governmental provider of specialist community support services, says yesterday’s industrial action had no impact on the delivery of services to clients.
Richmond’s chief executive, Dr Gerry Walmisley, says around 20 staff took part in the four hour stoppage and there was no support for the strike action outside of the Christchurch area.
The National Union of Public Employees (NUPE) said yesterday it expected around 100 staff to take part in the industrial action.
NUPE membership across New Zealand represents less than 10% of Richmond’s total workforce.
