LOMU TRANSPLANT
Jonah Lomu continues to progress well following his live donor kidney transplant at Auckland City Hospital over a
fortnight ago.
“My daily routine involves tests to check on how everything is going, some exercise, a bit of business and plenty of
rest,” said Lomu today.
“I’m out and about a lot more. Today we took Jack (the family dog) on a thirty minute walk. Having dealt with severe
nerve damage in my feet for the last year which restricted my movement, something as simple as a walk feels great.”
“While I am very keen to get back into a training schedule and a ‘normal’ daily life, I’m learning I’ve just got to take
it a bit slower and that each day can be different from the last. The Lomu household has been swamped with mail in the
past week and the get-well emails continue to pour in.
“Fiona and I have been overwhelmed by the support and kind wishes from New Zealanders and people around the world.
“We have to say a big thank you to the great people at New Zealand Post who have gone out of their way to see that the
mail addressed only to ‘Jonah Lomu, Auckland’ has made it to our home.”
