Pharmaceutical Distributor Implements Additional Security Measures
Following the recent health product contamination scare that prompted the recall of 4 products, CDC has implemented
additional security policies and procedures.
Roy Clements, CEO of CDC said that while it was still not known if CDC was the source of the contaminated products, his
company believed it had a responsibility to the community to ensure its security systems were capable of preventing
contamination of the products it distributed.
"CDC is the largest distributor of pharmacy and related products in the South Island and we stock the four products that
have been identified and recalled," said Mr Clements. He acknowledged that CDC was the focus of the police investigation
and said that remaining stocks of recalled products had been quarantined, as had all other liquid products that did not
have tamper evident seals.
Because most of the products it distributed to pharmacies were health related, the company believed it had a
responsibility to the community to take every prudent measure possible to ensure product delivered for sale was in its
original condition.
As an immediate measure security staff had been appointed to supervise storage areas and all the company's security
systems were being reviewed. Other additional layers of security had been implemented, he said.
The company was continuing to work fully with police investigations and he was hopeful that those responsible would be
apprehended quickly.
