Launch of Family Friendly Pharmacy Initiative
Parents Centre (NZ) Inc and the Pharmacy Guild of New Zealand are pleased to announce the launch of the Family Friendly Pharmacy Initiative.
The Minister of Health, the Hon Annette King will officially launch this new venture at
11.00am,
Thursday, 6 May, at Perham Pharmacy
58 Willis Street
Wellington
The Family Friendly Pharmacy initiative builds on the existing strong relationship between community pharmacists and parents. Many parents have more contact with their pharmacist than any other health professional. For this reason, Parents Centre NZ and the Pharmacy Guild are developing closer relationships at both the national and local levels as a means of promoting the respective skills and services of their members.
More than 120 pharmacies and over 50 Parents Centres around New Zealand are actively participating in this initiative as a means of contributing to a culture, which values children and supports parents. It's also about recognising the significant role and responsibilities pharmacists and parents have in their local community.
The criteria for becoming a Family Friendly Pharmacy is all about flexibility and accommodation. Involvement may range from the provision of a comfortable chair for breastfeeding mothers, toy boxes, family first aid kits, information sharing, seminars, displays, home deliveries and anything else which responds to the concerns and care of families.
