The search is back on!
The search is back on for the Fieldays Rural Bachelor of the Year!
Fieldays organisers have put out the official search call to find potential Rural Romeos for the 2004 competition.
Fieldays competition coordinator Kate McGowan said all single rural blokes should have a go.
“It may be that he is found in the shearing shed of a Central Otago Sheep station or riding his ATV around a Taranaki
deer farm, milking the herd on a South Waikato dairy block or relaxing after a hard day’s work with a well-deserved cold
one,” Miss McGowan said.
“There is no need for potential contestants to do any training for the competition, but naturally let their abilities
shine through from having lived a truly passionate rural lifestyle.”
After the success of the inaugural competition during Fieldays 2003, organisers have confirmed the competition will be
running again in 2004 with an even larger prize pool and greater selection of exciting heat activities.
It has been nearly a year since New Zealand’s top Rural Romeos graced the Fieldays paddocks with their presence during
the very first hunt to find the New Zealand’s most eligible and genuine rural bloke.
Once again the competition is proudly sponsored by Waikato Times and ZM with fantastic prize support from Swanndri,
Waikato Draught, Stihl, Moanui, BBQ Factory, Freedom Air, Accom Gold Coast, and Telecom.
Seven finalists will be selected from the applications and brought to Fieldays to compete for the prestigious title
‘Fieldays Rural Bachelor of the Year.’ They will be hosted for the duration of the competition in a secret location
bachelor pad and compete in heats testing their rural abilities and bachelor skills.
The blokes will share an exhausting and challenging week together having to deal with media attention, digger driving,
fencing, cooking, designing pick up lines, rugby training drills, painting and not to mention inescapable female
attention.
In 2003 Marton Fencing Contractor Tim Stafford was crowned New Zealand’s top Rural Bachelor. The prestigious Golden
Gumboot trophy that sits on his mantle piece will be handed over on the final day of competition at Fieldays.
Eligible contestants will be over 18, work in the rural industry, ooze Kiwi bloke charm and most importantly…genuinely
be a bachelor.
