Disposal Of Surplus Land

The Canterbury District Health Board has identified two further properties for sale as surplus land. They are inner city sections in Gracefield Avenue and Armagh Street.

The property in Gracefield Avenue is on two adjoining sections and for the last 10 years has provided residential accommodation for up to 12 mental health patients. Last year, following a review of its residential and respite rehabilitation services, the DHB decided that all of its residential rehabilitation accommodation services should be provided by an external service which was implemented last December. The property has been empty since then and the DHB is now ready to invite public submissions on its proposed sale.

The property in Armagh Street is also on two adjoining sections and consists of two character homes which were built in the 1920s. They were bought in the 1980s to house the Alcohol and Drug service. Since then, the service has expanded and it is presently being relocated to the Ferguson Building at Hillmorton. Relocation is due for completion in June this year.
