NUPE Concern At NZNO/PSA Splitting From MUCA
“NUPE is disappointed that NZNO and PSA members have voted to split the CDHB multi union agreement in their ballot
earlier this week,” said Nadine Marshall, Secretary of the National Union of Public Employees (NUPE) today.
She was commenting on the decision by the two unions to split the four union Multi Union Collective Agreement (MUCA),
covering all workers in Hillmorten Hospital and other mental health worksites plus workers in Older Persons’ Health and
Oral Health.
“This decision can only add tension to a health sector workforce already under pressure from violence from patients and
staff shortages,” said Nadine Marshall.
“NUPE’s focus now will be to settle our agreement for our members, “said Nadine Marshall. “We have written to the CDHB
requesting that the suspended bargaining reconvene. It is our view that good faith requires that the Board will have to
prioritise bargaining already under way.”
“NUPE delegates will be meeting on Monday 23rd to plan how the Union deals with the changed industrial environment
caused by the two unions splitting from the MUCA.”
