Press Release: From New Zealand AIDS Foundation
New Zealand AIDS Foundation Boutique World AIDS Day Street Appeal 2003
The Red Ribbon Street Appeal of the past has been modified and has become “He Ripene Kura 2003 – My Precious Red Ribbon Street Appeal.”
The new Executive Director of NZAF, Rachael Le Mesurier said, “the new name allows us to emphasize initiatives that prevent the transmission of HIV in New Zealand.“
NZAF hopes this new styled “boutique” street appeal will capture the interest of our long-term supporters and the new generation of young people and rangatahi.
Ms Le Mesurier said, “We need to give Safe Sex Campaigns a focus on youth, young gay men, takataapui tane, whakawahine and faafafine who are at risk of contracting HIV.”
“He Ripene Kura 2003 – My Precious Red Ribbon Street Appeal” will be on Friday 28 November in central locations within Auckland and Wellington.
