Voluntary Euthanasia - Dutch Doctor
Dutch doctor to address Auckland meeting on his experience of voluntary euthanasia practice in Holland
Jack Jones, official spokesperson for Voluntary Euthanasia Society (Auckland) Inc., announced today that his Society has arranged for Dr. Philip Boot to address a public meeting in Auckland on Thursday, 6th November 2003.
Dr. Boot will cover the practice of voluntary euthanasia in Holland in the periods before and after formal legalisation. The Voluntary Euthanasia legislation in Holland is close to the proposed legislation in New Zealand hence Dr. Boots experience is very applicable to New Zealand. He will explain the procedures and built-in safeguards in the system and supply recent statistics.
The meeting will be held at the Kingsgate Hotel (formerly known as Rose Park) at 92-102 Gladstone Road, Parnell at 7-30pm on Thursday, 6th November 2003. As Dr. Boot will only be in Auckland for several days, he is prepared to hold a media conference at 7-00pm on the day of the meeting at the meeting venue. He will only be available for other media events on Wednesday, 5th November 2003.
